Not that my opinion really matters, but I decided to dedicate a post to what I thought about the movies I have seen so far this summer...
The Break-Up- I really enjoyed this movie, but I know a lot of people didn't. I found it to be very funny and I thought Jennifer Anniston did a great job and Vince Vaughn was hilarious. I really didn't like the ending though, but I guess I'm someone who wants all the loose ends tied up and gets frustrated when endings are left open. Other than that I thought it was an overall humorous movie and pretty entertaining.
The Lakehouse- Sooo sweet! I liked how clean and cute this movie was and Sandra Bullock has always been one of my favorite actresses. (Any
While You Were Sleeping fans out there?) Haha, I got a little confused trying to keep up with the time distance thing, but after you get it it's a very cute romance that the guys will put up with because they have to explain the time thing to their not-so-quick girlfriends! A very good chick flick.
Superman- Ummm...well... I enjoyed it but it really wasn't what I was expecting. Smallville fans beware, it won't satisfy the need for character development. I'm used to Clark being the focus and Superman being the job on the side, so it was hard to reverse into Clark being almost obsolete. Make sure you rent 1 and 2 before watching this one because I had seen them years ago and had forgotten how some things were left that make quite a difference in understanding
Superman Returns. But, the special effects were very impressive and there is certainly no lack of action and world saving and infuriating almost romantic scenes with Lois.
The Devil Wears Prada- I loved this movie! Meryl Streep is amazingly evil and Anne Hathaway did a very good job as well. If you happen to be interested in fashion like me, all the better. This movie was just very well done and very sophisticated. I couldn't call it cute or sweet or action packed or anything... it's just very very good. Although, I thought it was rather cruel to make comments such as "6 being the new 14" or calling Anne Hathaway the "smart fat girl." lol. It's funny and yet realistic and even sad in some parts. So if you've seen the previews and thought it looked pretty interesting, it is. I highly reccomend it.
Pirates of the Carribean 2- Wow... it was amazing. At first it takes a rather lighthearted turn with crazy adventures and lots of sword fighting. But in the end it becomes the incredible adventure worthy of being the sequel to the first one. Any Orlando Bloom fans? You will be rather impressed with his performance as quite the hero of this movie. He is nothing like the boring Will Turner featured previously but he's still a bit naive and completely love struck with the bold Elizabeth. It was everything to be expected and more and the third one will be highly anticipated.
